You should experience a good energy broker at least once in your lifetime and here's why.

Energy brokers can save your business time and money

Over the last few weeks I’ve read a lot of negative posts about energy brokers, so rather than express my thoughts and feelings on those posts, and most probably receive a backlash, I thought I’d write a blog!

“Don’t use a broker as they make money from your contract”

I hear and see this comment all the time and it frustrates me. Can you name a successful business that doesn’t charge for their services or products? Do people really think that if they go direct to the supplier, they are not making any money?

Here are a couple of questions for you to think about….

·      Why are the rates on your renewal letters always higher than if you contact your supplier direct?

·      If suppliers always offered the best rates and service then why are there so many well-established energy brokers out there?

If your energy comes up for renewal and you don’t have time to look around and just end up accepting your initial renewal offer, you will definitely be paying more for your energy – so this is where an energy broker can help you. We scan the entire market, take care of all admin, liaise with the supplier on your behalf for the entire length of the contract, and this whole service is included in your renewal rate – there’s no additional charge.

Here is a real example of how different the rates can be (based on a consumption of 59,359kwhs)

·      Supplier renewal price – 19.38ppkwh (£11,504 per year)

·      Over the phone renewal price – 17.98ppkwh (£10,673 per year)

·      TMF Energy renewal price (same supplier) – 16.30ppkwh (£9,676 per year)

This clearly shows that by using a good reputable energy broker you could not only save yourself a lot of time and effort but also save your business hundreds if not thousands of pounds.

But of course, there’s no guarantee that a broker will save you money on your direct rates every time, but they certainly will have saved you valuable time by scanning the entire market and taking care of your contract from start to finish, meaning that you can concentrate your time on what you do best, after all, your time is money.

In any industry you will find businesses with either good or bad reputations, and the energy industry is no different. I have no doubt that those people who speak negatively about energy brokers have probably had a bad experience in the past, but what I would say is please don’t tar us all with the same brush, as some us really do take pride in saving our customers time, money and fuss.
